Nomination Process

How to Nominate

The nomination process is straightforward. You can nominate yourself, your colleague, your team or an organisation you admire. All nominations are reviewed by an independent judging panel.

Complete the Nomination Form

Fill in the nominee's details, the award category and a supporting statement explaining why they deserve recognition.

Submit by the Deadline

All nominations must be submitted before the published deadline. Late nominations will not be considered.

Independent Review Panel

An independent panel of senior African leaders and subject matter experts reviews all nominations against the award criteria.

Finalists Announced

A shortlist of finalists in each category will be announced and invited to the awards ceremony in Nairobi.

Awards Ceremony

Winners are announced and celebrated at the GLI Premier Africa Leadership Awards ceremony — a prestigious gala evening in Nairobi, Kenya.

Who Can Be Nominated?

  • Organisations headquartered or operating in Africa
  • Leaders from any sector — public, private, NGO, academia
  • Teams and departments (for Innovation & Impact)
  • Self-nominations are accepted and encouraged
  • Young Leader nominees must be under 40 years of age

Awards FAQ

Can I nominate myself?

Yes, absolutely. Self-nominations are accepted and encouraged. Many of Africa's most impactful leaders are modest — we encourage you to put yourself forward if you believe you meet the criteria.

Is there a fee to nominate or participate?

Nominations are free. There is no charge to submit a nomination or to be shortlisted as a finalist. Attendance at the awards ceremony may require registration — details will be communicated to all finalists.

Who judges the nominations?

All nominations are reviewed by an independent panel of respected African business leaders, academics and sector experts. The judging panel is selected for their integrity and expertise and are not affiliated with the nominees.

Can organisations be nominated, not just individuals?

Yes. The Corporate Leadership Award and the Innovation & Impact Award are specifically designed to recognise organisations and teams, in addition to individual leaders.

How will winners be notified?

Finalists will be contacted directly by the GLI Awards team via email and phone. Results are announced publicly at the awards ceremony. Please ensure your contact details on the nomination form are accurate.
